the dainty loft

My name is Kristie Carwithen. Better known as KrisC, the artist from The Dainty Loft. I love everything there is about dolls and the art behind making them.

I started making and painting dolls at a very young age but it was around 2004 when I started making vinyl reborns and then silicone dolls in 2005. In a world where there were no tutorials, blogs or YouTube videos to teach me how silicone works and paints, I learned by trial and error. A lot of trial and error. I am still learning. But I am extremely dedicated to the learning process and ultimately achieving the very best art I can offer.

I occasionally offer custom work but the majority of my art is done as a Prototype artist. I create prototypes for sculptors and offer them on auction. Either by Ebay or by private auction.

In the summer of 2019, with MacPherson arts & crafts, I launched my own artist line of silicone paints called SiliconeFX by KrisC, to help others to learn and achieve the art of silicone doll painting. Along with that, my husband Kelly, joined me at home and we started a molding and casting company called The Dainty Loft Molding.

I was born and raised in beautiful British Columbia, Canada but have recently moved across the country to New Brunswick with my husband, 4 sons and 2 dogs.

The Dainty Loft Molding

My husband Kelly and I started our company in 2019. Kelly is the primary force behind the molding and casting of the silicone dolls we create for Macpherson Arts & Crafts.

As of recently, we have started to branch out and offer our services to other independent sculptors such as Izzy Zhao and Marita Winters. We are eager to work with others but have plans to keep the business small, intimate and family-oriented.

Oms’ Knits

Oma is my grandmother, Hilda Hoefling. She is the amazing knitter behind Oms’ knits.
