Poe #9/10 ~ a silicone baby by Kristie Carwithen
Poe #9 is approximately 12" long if legs were straight, and has a 9” head circumference.
He is a partial silicone baby made in Platinum Ecoflex 20. Cloth body, 1/4th hands, full legs. I chose a slightly longer body and stuffed him with polyfil so that he curls right up into his boppy. He has a special silicone bum insert.
Poe #9 has a dark Ethiopian-like skin tone. He has armatures in his arms so that you can pose his arms in any position. His thick chubby legs also have armatures and were sculpted to always be curled up and it’s pretty much a fixed position.
Poe #9 has a magnetic pacifier. He has dark silicone-textured hair and hand-painted eyebrows along with rooted lashes.
He fits micro preemie clothes for about a 12-14inch baby.
Every Poe will come home with a handmade ensemble that I am super proud of. Poe #8 has a traveling bassinet lined with a handmade Winne the Pooh-themed bumper pad, mattress, and coordinating boppy pillow. He also will come with a pacifier, bottle, matching handmade blanket, extra diaper, and a knitted Hat Set by my grandmother, Oms’ Knits. Plus care instructions and a COA.

Poe is my very first sculpt and has taken me 4 years to complete. He is an edition of 10 babies plus 3 artist proofs, all poured, painted, and completed by me.
There are 8 boys, and 2 girls to be adopted. I wanted to make a wide variety of ethnicities so each one is painted entirely differently. No one Poe looks like the other. Of the 10 in the edition, 2 are cuddle babies.
Every baby has been painted by me, KrisC from The Dainty Loft. I’ve worked hard on my painting techniques and the skills I’ve acquired in making these babies. Each one has tiny nails and little veins and the softest skin from meticulous matting.
I would like to add that this baby is made to my interpretation of a newborn. He is not sculpted or fashioned after anyone else’s creation nor is he meant to look like anything manufactured. Silicone babies are handmade items and really one of a kind. Each one is different and may have, what some consider, slight imperfections here or there. I do not consider this a flaw; I consider it a piece of art. An original. Handmade items are made with love, just like Poe is.
~I am also possibly debating a blank kit edition but I still haven't decided yet. If I do go ahead with that, it wouldn't be made if/until the completed edition is sold out.
